Habitat Energy CEO visits Glidepath’s Byrd Ranch battery storage site

James Allan, Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and Habitat Energy CEO Andrew Luers at Glidepath’s Byrd Ranch site.

Our CEO Andrew Luers recently joined Glidepath Power Solutions for a tour of their 50MW Byrd Ranch battery storage project in Sweeny TX as we step-up our US expansion.

In total Habitat Energy USA will optimise 60MW of assets on behalf of Glidepath, starting with their 10MW/10MWh Prospect battery storage project located in West Columbia, TX. The battery is already operating in ERCOT’s Responsive Reserve Service (RRS) alongside wholesale power markets using our proprietary AI and machine learning capabilities. Byrd Ranch is expected to be operational by the end of 2022.

The US power sector is in a period of dramatic change, with renewables and storage now dominating new capacity investment. AI-enabled forecasting and optimization of these assets is essential to respond to the pace of the energy transition and unlock the substantial revenue opportunities on offer.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, our rapidly growing US team will focus on battery storage optimization, renewables and hybrid facilities, and is set to be operational across all major US markets by next year.

They will be supported by over 60 battery storage, data science and trading professionals in the UK, where we are ranked the top performing battery optimizer, earning up to twice as much revenue per MW for clients relative to our competitors across a 700MW-strong asset portfolio.
