We have a vacancy for a Data Scientist to be one of the founding members of our new team in Austin, Texas.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and building Habitat Energy’s US market forecasts, building on our existing market forecasting capabilities using machine learning and statistical methods
  • Designing, building and developing the decision making algorithms which will support the optimisation of our US merchant storage portfolio
  • Creating systematic trading algorithms for transacting power in the US.

  • Independent, entrepreneurial approach to work
  • A passion for algorithmic decision-making and a desire to apply that within the energy sector
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related technical field
  • You have experience with Python and its wider numerical ecosystem (Pandas, SciKit-learn, Numpy etc.)
  • You have at least 3 years of work/educational experience building and delivering production solutions in Machine Learning, Data Science and/or Convex Optimization

Extra credit if you can demonstrate:

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related technical field
  • Time series forecasting and mixed integer linear programming
  • Experience in energy markets or battery systems modelling
  • Relational and/or non-relational databases (eg, SQL), including time-series databases.
  • Version control code (Git) including dev, test and production environments
  • AWS, continuous integration, monitoring and alerting
